Gene Hackman was discovered dead.

Police said the deaths of Hackman and his wife are "suspicious enough" to warrant an inquiry.


Gene Hackman, the acclaimed two-time Oscar-winning actor known for his prolific career in Hollywood, was found dead at his New Mexico home at age 95 alongside his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and one of their dogs.

Hackman, who retired two decades ago, was discovered in the mudroom, while Arakawa was found in a bathroom near a space heater with prescription pills nearby. Investigations are ongoing, and no signs of foul play or gas leaks have been reported so far.








Hackman, who attained fame with films such as "The French Connection" and "The Royal Tenenbaums," had a formidable presence and brought distinctive energy to his roles. He also ventured into writing, penning several novels. Known for his diverse roles, Hackman's contributions to cinema were celebrated by peers like Francis Ford Coppola. Hackman is survived by his children from a previous marriage and will be remembered as a significant figure in film history.
